I think you cant compare a gopro with a good dslr cam. The GoPro, I got the Hero 4 Black, is a beast, but it's an actioncam. You can do alot of things with it, the quality is brilliant, but you got more things on a dslr cam, if you want to do an edit or some low light captures.

The GoPro has a nice smooth look.  But, I hate the fisheye lens – very limited.  If they had interchangeable lenses I would get one.

hero 4 black is good for videos but if you know how to use the nikon the 1080p of it will surpass the 4k of the gopro. ps in low light situations if you throw in the gopro vs the nikon d3300 it's like throwing a 10 year old kid in a cage with a hungry lion

Does a gopro do good with pictures as well, or should I get a Dslr for that?

Thanks for this video, i have been procrastinating for months as to go with the Sony X1000V or GoPro Hero 4, but both lack the ability change lens and shoot stage drama without distortion, or do a good job of filming a bear or a moose in action.

I recently did a photo-shoot of a grizzly fishing and eating salmon, with my Nikon 300s, nice photos, the video was horrid due to its inability to auto focus, i tried shoot video with a Nikon Coolpix, but that is garbage too, very poor quality. I cant afford or have room to pack a professional video camera everywhere i travel.

Watching this video tells me this body (Nikon D5200) might make a good backup camera as well as a video camera. I just need to buy a good wide angle lens in addition to what I have.

And i don't surf or do wild stuff anymore, just staying alive is good enough at my age.

I have a T5i, which does 720 @ 60 fps but I can't get good super slow motion with it, so I might get a Hero 4 Black for an extra video angle for Youtube vids and use it for slow-mo, as well.
